Hi all newb here. I am going to be using this product in the spring to paint my 81Z28. It is going to bare metal and currently have all the supplies needed(Epoxy Primer, Paint shop primer, base and clear). I have a flexible bumper primer in a rattle can I was going to use on the many urethane body parts of this car....don't care for the rattle can but was told to use this on these parts by a pro. Boy that was a run-on sentance. My question....this is a Lacquer product? The video shows a Ford vehicle with urethane bumpers being painted....am I to assume I do not need a flex agent added to the paint for these pieces? If I do need anything additional could you please make suggestions?
The car is cuurrently in a thousand pieces as I started it last year and am waiting for the spring thaw to have at it!!
Thank you for this forum as I have found it very helpful.

Here is a pic of the car when I started taking it apart....there is much less to it now. Nice low mileage...un-molested...high optioned...Z28. Got a great deal from a local friend. Problem is I had to replace 2 fenders and front bumper. Lots of dent pulling in the remainder of the car. Time to start slinging the bondo(Rage). I have the Silver already to go...not my choice of color. I figure it should look nice...would rather have black.

Thanks for the post and glad you enjoy the forum. If your using the Paint Shop system I am going to suggest applying the silver base coat with LOW air pressure. You will have to wetsand the basecoat before you add the clear. The Silver is a little finicky. Paint Shop is a lacquer product. Yes we did paint the Ford Focus with the PS system over top the plastic bumpers with not problems although the paint would have probably cracked if the car was hit. Even paint with a flex agent will crack if hit hard enough. Your car being an older Z28 had very flexible plastic parts. I know from experience with the cars. I am going to suggest a flex agent to be added to your paints that are applied. You will have to mix up a separate batch of paint and paint the plastic parts off the car. You will want to spray a test panel first with the flex agent to make sure you are happy with your results.
I hope this helps you. Have fun with your Camaro!

HHHmmmmm....I really appreciate the response. But I do have concern....the silver is finicky? I have 4 cats(go figure) I consider them finicky. I would hope my paint is not. Do you not have confidence in this product?
Not being a wise guy...just want as much info prior to investing time in painting my car. Pointers are appreciated.
Thanks, Chris

i think he meant to say that the silver with metalic is difficult to lay evenly. meaning, if you do not spray it evenly then some areas will have more metallic than others and it will really show in the sun light. it is a great color to use. i used it on a few jobs and be sure to mix well and then wet sand before clear coat to even out the color. it is a very good product. looks great when finished. i will try and dig up a photo and post it.

Sorry to be so vauge. By finicky I meant what Chris mentioned. Painting with metallic is tricky. Use low air pressure and apply in light coats. Finish with 1 or 2 mist coats holding the spray gun farther away so the metallics lay down evenly. If metallic paint isn't applied properly it will appear blotchy especially in the sun. As mentioned, you may need to color sand before applying the clear to knock off any orange peel. Thanks Brian
