Hi all I am going to be trying my hand at pinting for the first time in the near future and have a question about paint gun cleaning. I have gravity feed HVLP gun and was wondering what to clean it with after I finish painting. Do I use Lacquer Thinner or do I use Acetone? I read on the can of primer when I was looking at it in the store that if you wanted to thin it down to use Acetone , but all the primers and paints are Lacquer based. So which would be better to clean the paint gun with Lacquer thinner or Acetone or does it even matter? Thanks for any help Farva680

Having just finished my fenders and tailgate on my ongoing Ranchero project using the Duplicolor paint shop products, I found ordinary lacquer thinner to work just fine in cleaning my HVLP gun. Hope this helps. This is a good forum and if anyone else has any ideas and tips, you'll get them here. Good luck.

I always have used our Dupli-Color lacquer found on the shelf with Paint Shop. You can use Acetone or Lacquer Thinner for gun cleaning or thinning the paint if needed.
