I am going to be painting a few Remote control hydroplane boats and I have some questions.
1) Is the Paint Shop Primer hi build and sandable?
2) Does the base color need to be sanded before it is cleared?
3) Should the clear be sanded between coats?
4) What is the best way to wet sand and polish after the clear has set and how long should I wait to wet sand?
5) Will the clear hold up good to water, since it is going on a boat?

I know that Lacquer isn't as durable as Eruthane paint but for the price and the amount of time the boat will actually be out in the elements I think this Paint will do the trick very nicely.

1) yes the paint shop primer is sandable. dupli-color also makes a high build primer that is in a spray can that is also sandable. they have it in 3 different colors also i believe.
2) i recommend sanding the color before clear to remove any orange peel that you may have. although, the paint shop paint does spray really well with very little orange peel to no orange peel at all. sanding with 1500-2000 grit works the best for me and will give you that deep shine.
3)yes i would sand between coats. i would spray a heavy coat on first and sand smooth. then spray 2-3 more coats and then a final sand and buff.
4)i waited 24hrs before i wet sanded the clear. i used 1000 grit to start and finished with 2000grit. if you are not experienced with buffing then i recommend using a slow speed buffer with buffing compound.
5) i believe the clear will hold up great. keep waxed and as long as you are not running into anything, it will be ok.

good luck on the project and lets see some pics:D

Thanks for the answers Chris, I will be sure to post some pics once the boat is done.

Chris or anyone for that matter, do you think the spray can high build primer has a higher build than the Paint shop primer?

i would think that they are about the same. the primer in the can is used for smaller applications, and the Paint shop primer can be sprayed over larger areas more evenly. I recommend using the primer sealer that you reduce with acetone for the best build over large areas.
