Go for a very, very dark navy blue- NOT a metallic. This is a very good looking and very popular color on many late model Volvos, Nissans, VWs, etc.

Should be easy to shoot and sand out like your white if required…with color sanding and buffed clear coats, it will look great. And if need to re-shoot a part later it should match better.:)

I am talking DARK navy…not some horrible pastel shade from the 70’s.

Actually, Rustoleum’s Dark Navy Blue is almost right shade- should be a little darker and of course it is enamel paint.

Lots of Volvo V70, S80, S70s...and recent jetta’s and passat’s out there with this color.
I have a Volvo I would shoot ASAP and I have already bought and tried (trial panel) 3 other colors from you.

My choices right now- 1st choice White (boring-but works well), 2nd Red (Great shade-Arrest Me Red), and 3rd Jet Black (can we say see every spec of pollen!).

Your current blue would great on a 1967 Mustang fastback:D - but not mine.

My other picks- Teal Green metallic (see VW), the Blue/Teal (Volvo-more blue in shading) and the Blue BMW currently is using.

BY the way, scientific studies have repeatedly shown that most people's favorite color is- blue!

Thanks,
dgltrader

I have a 1966 Ford Mustang that I'm in the process of restoring. Once I'm ready to paint I would like to use the Paint Shop products, but haven't seen the Signalflare Red color listed as a choice. Any chance that it could be produced as a new color?

I'd like to see a bright blue, a bright Bimini blue, a Ford color. I used it on the top half of my truck ('56 F100) and it looks great. The bottom is Ford white.
I'd also like to find a place that has more than one or two quarts of the different colors that are already available.
I live within one mile of Advance and O'Reilly parts stores and about all they have is a little of this and a little of that and some primer.
Whover is in charge of ordering doesn't seem to keep up.

Correct. The company is the one who manages its own inventory.

Brian, have you heard of people using a paint roller to paint a vehicle? I read this on another site and it must be true going by the responses given.
Must be a real bear to color sand and buff.

I have heard of this but would never suggest it. It would be so bad that you wouldn't be able to color sand or buff it. Also any metallic paint would never turn out. I will tell you know that you cannot apply Paint Shop using this technique considering Paint Shop is a prereduced ready to spray lacquer. It would run all over the place.

This is exactly what I'm looking for as well. I've seen it on VW's and my Mazda has it but they call it INDIGO BLUE. It's quite dark and great! If this doesn't exist yet I'd love to see it soon!

I know that if there was a sublime green or something close to it(maybe a little less of a yellow) and a semi-gloss back(if possible) I would be doing my truck in the next month or two. Hope more colors come out soon. Thanks.

I think you should do all the colors that are in the Dupli-Color logo plus a nice semi gloss hot rod black. In fact I think you should do all the colors that are offered by Summit in their two part urethane only in good old lacquer. I love lacquer it is so simple.

The rat rod craze and even the flat black look is popular now. All the guys I know that are into their projects insist on doing the whole project themselves including paint work. I know a few people that are currently looking to paint thier projects a rat rod black. I almost chose that color for my project. A rat rod black would be something to add to the duplicolor line up.

What about a line of additives that we could use to tweak the existing colors?

Like pearl for the white, or a fine gold metallic for the black, that type of thing.

That way we could make the existing colors more unique.

Also I would love to see the Mirage colors in a quart.

I think that is how it is spelled, dark red kinda color. Also like the idea of a black cherry color

What about a food coloring size container with color changing mixes. Or drops of colorants. Can imagine some great experimentation going on with these.

Well you will be happy to know that we have introduced a Matte Finish Clear Coat for the Paint Shop line.

BSP307 MATTE FINISH CLEAR COAT

Should be hitting the shelves as we speak so call your local auto parts store. If they do not have it, you will start seeing it in a few weeks.

Hi,

I have a project coming up that involves a 1957 Cardinal canned ham trailer. It currently wears a Red/White latex house paint job that appears to have been applied with a broom.

I can't help but think it would be much happier in that very cool late '50s Chevy color called "Tropical Turquoise"/White.

Thanks,

I had my motorcycle painted what I would consider a candy wine colour. In the shade it looked like a burgandy/black. When the sun was on it, it varied from candy apple red to a rich deep burgany colour, depending on the angle of reflection.
PS. I spell colour this way because I'm Canadian, so no corrections. lol

YES... Burnt Orange! Especially in the Candy finish... with matching engine enamel. Is that asking too much? LOL!

I've used Dupli-Color on a couple different projects and like how easy it is to use. So now as I'm planning my largest job (to paint an entire car), of course I looked to Dupli-Color first, but was very disappointed to find out that you don't offer a Burnt Orange. Now I'm going to have to go with a competitors product. :(

Personally, I would like to see a LOT more colors come out in this, especially late model colors. I would also like to see additives made available like pearls, flourescents, etc. And it would really be nice to see larger containers...a pint is just too small sometimes. Price is good, product sprays good, just need more product! And like the one guy said, matching engine/caliper paint would be nice....

This is going to be a continuous thread to give us an idea of what you want. Tell us what Paint Shop color you would like Dupli-Color to come out with and we just might bring it to life!

These paints just became available in CAnada and I think they are going to be very popular. As we do not have very many selections when it comes to paint due to our enviromental laws.

There are several small body shops and hotrod hobbists that turn to these colors first. But the limited colors makes it tough to choose when you are not in the market for one of the off the shelf colors.

I think the custom mixed colors is a great idea, but I think you should put out a mix chart indicating all the popular colors. You have enough of the base colors to do it. And you would not have to create more colors. just recipies.

Popular colors like the high impact colors of the 70s (big bad blue, slime lime, lemon twist, hugger orange, etc...) and the popular custom colors like (Midnight blue met., british racing green, black ice, black cherry met., Copper head met., etc...)

this should be fairly easy to do since most paint supply shops have a computer/reader that measures a color sample and gives you the exact color mix for that color.

I'm personally looking for Copper head metalic for a bracket racer I am working on. I have seen other posts and I think I would start with candy orange, black and red... but I really do not want to experiment on my project. I'd like to get the formula so I can produce the exact color (within reason)
Thanks
Jim
