After getting everything even, I laid down filling primer and sanded with 400 grit, followed by primer sealer. Without sanding the sealer, I shot a few coats of graphite color Wheel Coating, followed by several coats of red Metalcast (to get it as dark as I wanted), and then immediately sprayed several coats of clear Wheel Coating.
It took a long time to harden up, but once it did I wet sanded and polished it, and it looks as good as I could ever expect.
