I have a 1995 Chevy S-10 that needs some serious attention. The truck lived its whole life in New England and the frame and body show signs from all the salt and snow. I would like to do a "Tim the TooL Man" frame up restoration on it eventually. My question is, how can I get the body and frame looking good again? The original color is red. Alot of the clear coat is flaking off. There is some small rust areas. The frame has alot of surface rust and I would like to get it protected so that the rust doesn't over take it. I would like to change the color to the blue or silver that Toyota uses on their Tacoma truck. Any tips and help would be greatly appreciated.

That is a huge undertaking Tony. I really don't know how far you really want to go but to get rid of any rust for good it must be media blasted away. A good primer and color coat needs to be applied there after. That is the biggest tip I can give you. If you don't get rid of the rust completely then it will just come back. It is like cancer for cars. If you continue to drive the truck through the salt after you have fixed the rust then you must oil spray or undercoat or it will just rust again.
