So in a few months I'm going to be at the point to paint my 67 camaro and I'd like to try out the Duplicolor Paint Shop system. 3 reasons... 1) It looks easier for a first timer than the normal epoxy sytems. 2) The price is right and I just can't afford a 5-8K paintjob. 3) I've torn the car apart and done everything else so far... why not this too and be able to take pride in the fact that I did something that intimidates most people.

So in preparation for getting the job done right, what would you guys recommend to use as a cleaner, degreaser or wax remover before laying down paint? And is it used between all layers... all layers of primer, all layers of paint, and all layers of clear? Then does it evaporate clean and you just spray or are you supposed to remove the cleaner somehow?

Thanks,

if you are going all out on this project then i would just strip all paint and primer down to bare metal on this car. this way you will see if there is any major body rust hiding underneath. after all paint and primer is stripped, hand sand the entire car with 320 grit sandpaper to get a semi-smooth finish. this will help make the primer bond alot better. if you do this, then i wouldnt worry about any degreaser or wax remover. it is alot of dirty work stripping the paint, but the outcome is much much better. good luck and keep us posted.
