As I am trying to get as much info as possible before diving in to this, I was looking at a video on this site on primers. The video showed Duplicolor offers a high build primer I'm hoping to be able to use under the PS paint and clear. Does it only come in spray cans or can it be found in quarts too? Where can it be found and what is the part number so I can find it or order it?

I'm hoping to use an etch primer I got from the auto body paint store, then the high build then the paint and clear. Or is it necessary to use the PS primer after the high build?

Next question.... should you wet sand between all primer coats?... between all paint coats?... after last primer coat before paint?... only after the primer and paint coats have been applied but before clear?... Or just wet sand between ALL coats!? Not a clue here.:o

first use etching primer on bare metal. if you are just painting over the current paint, then all you need to do is scuff the surface with sandpaper before primer. next, i would use the PS primer first over everything and then high build primer in areas that might have low spots. the reason for different colors of primer is to help you find out where the high and low spots are.

sooooo, spray the PS primer and then spray some high build primer(only in spray cans) and the lightly block sand the entire car. if you break through in areas while sanding the you know it is a high spot and need to build the primer around the area to level. Make sense???

sanding is important but if the primer is smooth and does not have orange peel and everything looks flat, then go ahead and spray the base color. last, when you spray the clear, you want to have many coats to allow for wet sanding.
