championship white with metallic clear

Im going to paint my Rx-7 championship white, but Im not sure if either of the metallic or prism clear coats will give me something that looks like a pearl white color. Has anyone done this? Which one of the two clear coats will give me a nice pearl looking white paint job??

prism clears have mulitple color specks. metallic clears only have one. i would use the metallic clear in my opinion. if you are unsure, then i recommend buying a can of each and spraying them on a piece of metal to see what each one looks like. better to be sure first before starting.

The Metallic Clear (BSP301) is going to give you more of a pearl look. The Prism Clear (BSP302) has larger metallic flakes that reflect light differently based on the angle. The prism is almost like the metallic effect seen on bass boats if that helps... That's the best way I can describe it. As Chris mentioned though, it's always a good idea to spray some out to determine which one you like better before actually starting the project. As a side note, we have also seen some projects that used both metallic clears that turned out really cool...

Here is our Championship White with the Metallic Clear over it. It come out as a Pearl White. Real nice color.

Brian. Can you tell me how many coats of metallic clear were sprayed on the test shot?Can I get that same affect with one coat? Or is that 2 or 3 coats on there? thanks Mike.

That was 3 coats. You will not get the same effect with 1 coat. The metalic/pearl flake is in the clear so the effect will be enhanced the more coats you lay down. Create your own test panel before you spray your vehicle.
