I've done quite a few things with duplicolor over the years... I really like the high temp line...

anyway, I did my engine block, cylinder heads, fuel rails, assorted pulleys, brake caliper brackets in black...

front cover, valve covers, water pump, calipers in silver (gone now, for red ;)...

I later changed the brackets to gold, works pretty well.

i've used gunmetal wheel paint on CV axles, just recently and they turned out quite well:

I had to do them three times (long story). Started by taking it all apart, cleaning as much grease as possible, sand blasting the parts, then cleaning them with a pressure washer, wiping them down with brake clean, 3 coats of primer and 3 coats of color. After a masking tape disaster, I had to sand and clean it up, tried to respray it too soon, it crinkled. So I set it aside for a bit, under a heat lamp, let it harden a bit, then sanded it until smooth again... waited as long as I could and re-shoot them, a whole week under the heat lamp. They actually came out really smooth after all the build up and sanding.

The valve covers came out really well. I degrease them in the laundry tub, thoroughly, until every spot of grime was off. Used the castol super clean, iirc. Then dish soap, lots of water, alcohol or brake clean... used some body filer to fill in some areas, sanded all over, went straight to color. So far, 4-5 + years of extreme racing heat and no bubbles on them *knock on wood*, and they are fiber glass.

No good up close pics atm...

I try to powder coat what i can, but when I need a bit in a hurry, duplicolor usually works in a pinch

i wanted to do the axles in bronze but they didn't carry it... high temp gold is usually absent too...
