Has anyone tried to mix and match Metal Specks for a base coat with Metalcast for a more custom effect? I was hoping to try M200 Sparkle Silver as the base and MC201 Blue as the top coat. Will it/should it work? Any suggestions?

Very cool idea and yes it will work. We currently offer a metallic silver base coat in the Metalcast line if your not intending to topcoat over a chrome substrate. However the Metal Specks Silver has a much heavier metallic pigment than the Metalcast base. It should look cool! Let us know how you like it.

I completed this project with beautiful results. I used the gray filler/primer, MetalSpecks silver for the base and MetalCast blue for the color. However I had a hard time finding Duplicolor clear coat and ended up using another brand. I'm not sure about compatibility here because I ran into the same fuel spill problem as other members did. :( After reading that MetalSpecks is a lacquer, I thought I may have mixed in something different in the process. Is the MetalCast also lacquer? If so I am going to refinish the project and make sure I use all lacquer products and add the urethane or similar as talked about in other posts.
