As the time comes closer for me to paint the car, more questions must be asked.

As stated in my other thread, I'm probably going with the hugger orange, and I will be painting the trim black. My issue with the black parts is this; what paint/clear can I use to give them a matte or satin finish? I'd rather use something I can put in my spray gun than a rattle can, but if you can convince me that a rattle can's finish can hold up to the elements well, I may do it. Also, although I want a "less than gloss" finish on the black trim, I want to clear it somehow to protect the finish against scratches (because flat/semi flat finishes are easy to scratch in my experience).

If not, maybe I should just go with gloss (though I'd rather not...).

Thanks.

YOu can get a flat look finish using a clear coat if all you do is wet sand it and not buff it. It will not be a perfect matte finish but it will be dull. i recommend wetsanding lightly with 1200-1500 grit sandpaper until you get an even flat finish. THis way you will have the clear coat to protect the base coat. Doing this it will be "less than gloss".

Our Trim Paint TP70 holds up very well to the element and is a very nice Satin Black finish. You can also use our Satin Wheel Paint. As far as a flat goes then our General Purpose Enamel DA1605 will do the trick.
