Just purchased a new GM V8 engine for the '51 Chevy truck I'm building. Unfortunately GM paints their new engines black and I want mine red. Do I really need to go through the trouble to strip the black paint off or can I simply spray over it. Should I use a primer first? Thanks

i would think that you could just spray over the black paint. THe Gm paint would hold up really good, so just make sure the surfaces are super clean and spray over the black paint.

Correct Chris. I too am working on the same exact project for my 1979 Malibu and this is how I plan to complete it.

1. Prep Spray PS100
2. Sciff with coarse Scotch Bright Pad
3. Prep Spray PS100 again
4. Mask off areas I don't want paint on
5. Paint with color of choice

Thanks
