Can I paint PS clear coat over a white stripe decal? It is the type that is placed from the front end to the back of car.Answer; I cut a 6 inch piece off the remainder of 6 inch x 20 foot roll of the racing stripe decal and tested it before spraying the stripe on the car. It has been on it 3 days and appears to be ok. I noticed the vinyl decal does have a clear thick coat of something on it. That could be why the acrylic lacquer does not wrinkle and melt the vinyl.

Good question? I'm not sure if it is a good idea or not. Try setting the sample out in the sun for a few days to see how it holds up. DC Specialist can answer this one!

Considering I am very late on my reply I see that you have already painted your Celica and cleared over the decals. There is no problem with using our clear over them. It was a good idea that you had tested this first. Vinyl decals usually have a UV protectant on them and do not need a clear but there is nothing wrong with clearing them.
