Hey guys i want to paint my 48 chevy flat black........ is the only way to use the black sanding primer.... do i have to use a primer sealer first or can i do a coat of clear....sanded to give a flat look.... on top of the black primer.
Just curious.... I have heard the sandable primer doesnt keep h2o from reaching the metal....although i am painting over a flat gray paint....may be primer...hmmmm
I am going to eventually paint it with a flat enamel or laquar...
what are thoughts ?

The best way to get a 'flat' look is to paint with an actual flat paint. All primers are porus so it will eventually rust on you if you don't apply some type of sealer over it(paint). Now if you apply a sealer UNDER IT you can use a flat primer as you mentioned. Either way just as long as it is sealed one way or another. We are in the works on a matte finish clear coat for our Paint Shop system so visit the site often.
