View Full Version : painting rims,wat kinda paint?

im in prosses of painting a pair of aluminum rims,but dont know wat kinda paint to use.i want to paint them white,but im not sure if i need to scuff and primer them first or not.can somebody help me out on wat i need.

1. Scuff with red scuff pad to break any polished or gloss.
2. Primer with DAP1690 Self Etch primer
3. I am not sure on the color of white you are after so I am going to recommend our White Wheel Paint HWP100. It is a glossy paint. Test spray first.
4. Clear coat is optional

ok cuz i painted the rims and let them dry for about 2 days but they still scratch easaly

Install the wheels back on the vehicle and let the heat from the brakes bake the enamel. It will get very hard.

oh ok cuz i let them sit for about 3 weeks now and one of em still peals off,does the paint HAVE TO BE RIM PAINT ERR CAN IT BE ANY

only use the rim paint over the self etch primer, use a heat gun after it air dries to "bake" it on.
