(2) can i use a different kind of clear on a dupli-color paint job.
(3) and is it ok to mix colors and then put pearls or metallics in the paint.

(1) can i use a non dupli-color primer and then use dupli-color shop paint on top. Yes. Always test a small area or separate panel first.

(2) can i use a different kind of clear on a dupli-color paint job. Yes. Always test a small area or separate panel first.

(3) and is it ok to mix colors and then put pearls or metallics in the paint. Yes Just make a large enough batch because it will be difficult to match if you ever have to touch up. Mix everything in a gallon or larger container.

Just be sure to use Lacquer with Lacquer or Enamel with Enamel. Laquer over Enamel can cause problems because Lacquer is "hotter" than Enamel. The reverse is "ok" to do.
