I'm repainting my 07 Sportster. I want to do a metalic red ghost flame, but I'm not quite sure how to get the results I'm looking for. I've seen it done with a red pearl. I bought a can of red "Metal Specks" and did some testing, but I don't think it's going to give me the look I want. I'm going to try a few more things with it, but I don't want to keep buying $10 cans of paint that aren't going to work. I thought about going to NAPA and getting some red pearl to mix in my clear coat. Does anyone have any ideas?

We did ghosting on the El Camino restoration. Check out Week 9 Paint Shop 2. We cover exactly how to ghost with our Metallic clear. Our Metallic Clear is a translucent Pearl Mid Clear Coat that shows what ever color is under it.

The problem is I want to do a red ghost flame on a black tank. The next thing I want to try is some embossing powder from my wifes crafting stuff mixed in some of the clear coat. I have some test panels I've bean experimenting on. I'll let you know how it comes out.

Well its not really a ghost flame, but I think I can live with it.

I taped it off in normal fashion

Nice job! I was gonna suggest is you wanted Red Ghost Flames you could always add pearl pigment to our Candy Apple Red. It would work the same way.
