Hey all! Saw an ad on TV for dupli-color so I came to the site to check it out.

I just bought a new Civic and, since it is white, a nice accent stripe in blue metallic along the beltline would look nice. After reading several posts, I don't think it's a job for a newbe like me.

I would like to paint the black plastic grill. Either the whole grill or just an accent (assuming of course, I can figure out how to get it off!).

I read several posts which indicate the use of an adhesion promoter prior to priming.

Would this hold true for this flexible plastic and would I be able to use any of the Dupli-Color paints?

Regards,
Bob

Yes, dupli color will work great for this job. You are right about using the adhesion promoter, but first be sure to clean the surface with wax and grease remover. Lightly scuff the plastic with sandpaper to help bond to the plastic. Once you get started, you will realise how easy dupli color is to work with. good luck and lets see some pics.

I just did my grill in black with an aerosol can of black. I used the kind for plastic. Cleaned it first then sand smooth, clean again, then paint. Turned out great. The grill was silver from the factory. If the plastic is chipped then try using JB quick weld epoxy, the 4 minute kind. Repaird a big chip in mine then sanded smooth and paint. Looks new again.
