Hey I'm thinking about paintin my Current project with this Dupli-Color Candy paint and I've read through a lot of the post here, searching for the ansewer to my question but didn't find it so maybe somebody can shed some lite on the subject.. I know basically it's a 4 step process, primer, base coat, color coat, clear coat. and I know it would normally take 4 to 6 quarts of paint. but with this method will it take equal amounts of base coat to color coat ? or is it more base and less color or vise versa. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

With Candy Paint you will use more of the color coat. You will also need to lay each color coat down evenly, otherwise you wind up with light and dark spots. Try on a scrap piece of sheet metal first. It will get you used to laying down even coats AND let you know how many coats of color you want to lay down over your base color. Remember that a candy paint is transparent and as such each additional coat will darken the final color.

That is great advice! We couldn't have said it any better. When we paint a project with the Candy Coats, we make sure to spray extremely light mist coats. It allows you to have more control over the color depth and it helps to prevent striping...
