In the next week or so I'm going to be tackling the refinish of my wheels. I've started to amass some of the things I need, but am curious as the whether I should use a primer under the High Performance Wheel Coating. I'm painting the wheels white and not sure if I need the primer or not and which one.

Also, how many cans should it take to paint 4 wheels? Will two be enough or should I go with 3. Same question for the clearcoat as well. Is 2 cans enough?

Great question. You can use any one of our General Purpose Primers for your project. Wheel tend to get a little warm when you drive but never enough to peel the paint off if using a non heat resistant primer. I am going to recommend our FP101 Filler Primer. This way it will fill in any minior scratches that may be there from sanding. I would say you will need no more than 2 cans per step.
