I have a 1986 Kawasaki X2 jetski i am restoring, and would like to do the paint myself.

I have no painting equipment, so this will have to be an aerosol job.

The Jetski has factory original white paint that is flaking in places.

What supplies and aerosols will be needed to paint this silver metalic or silver metal flake, (primers, paint, ect.) and procedures required to make this happen?

I already have an aerosol 2k urethane for the top coat.

Thank you
Les

Chopper, Paint steps are covered through out the forums so please do a search. They are covered especially in the Paint Shop Thread. Even though Paint Shop is spayed using spray equipment the steps needed for a high quality paint job is the same for aerosol.

The products you will need are:

Degreaser: either our PS100 Prep Spray or CM series quart or gallon Wax and Grease Remover

Primers: Self Etch DAP1690 first and follow up with Filler FP101.

Sand Paper: 400, 600, 1000, 1500 and 2000 grit. The 1000 and higher should be the wet/dry type.

Paint: If you want a sweet Silver Metal Flake paint job I suggest checking out our Metal Specks line. We have a silver in that line but also a Red, Blue and Copper.

This should help you get started.
