I receintly painted my 97 eclipse gsx with the Jet Black PS only to find out the hard way that I completely hate the PS system..Anyways, I am going a different route now and need to know if there is any primer that is compatible to spray over the lacquer or does it need to be all sanded off?

Would I be able to use your Duplicolor 'BG900 Gray' primer surfacer, Since its lacquer based?

What is the reason you do not like it? If you are going a different route wet sand the entire vehicle down wit 600 grit. The BG system is enamel. It will go over our lacquer Paint Shop. The rest is up to you.

Thanks Brian,
I have painted my car 3 times with a Nason Ful-Base / Clear system, all 3 times I have never used more than 3 quarts of paint to do the base.

With the PS system I had to use 5 quarts and it did not even cover everything. The dang car is only 12.5' long....

Even with the 5 quarts on the car, 1500grit wetsanding burned through in so many places.

I can go on and on of how I don't like it, But I will not...

Thanks for correcting me, that the BG is enamel not lacquer, I just asumed it was based on having to mix it with lacquer thinner.

So..Wet sand down with 600, then prime with BG,
Then I can coat with whatever I want after that,Without any problems?

Nason is a urethane paint. Urethanes will go over most anything however I do not know how well it will go over a fresh enamel primer. I am going to suggest wet sanding your car down as mentioned before and use Nason primer, base then clear. I hope this helps you out.

I always have used your BG900 for anything I have primed, Thats why I ask..I have used it under the ful-base every time without problems too.

If it has worked for you in the past then go for it.
