I have painted some plastic auto interiour parts using the Chrome paint. It looks great, has that cast/polished aluminum or pewter look. The problem is the surface is not durable. If you touch it, it smudges. I tried applying clear coat, but the surface looses all it's luster and goes ugly dark grey

How can I protect the surface without dramically changing the finish?

Any paint brand including Dupli-Color that offers the Chrome paint has 'deleafing' concerns. I have learned that our Engine Paint Cast Coat Aluminum has great durability. # DE1650

Instant gray and quite a waste of time and money. The "chrome" colors are never really that but Duplicolor's isn't bad looking, just can't be used on wheels.

What now?
