Can i spray H.O.K clear over it?

I was wondering if i could spray House of kolor clear over it cause im painting a show car and i want a really nice shine, to be honest im kind of scared using the base coat i bought( the mineral gray) because ive only ever sprayed PPG and H.O.K paints and i knew they where good because chip foose uses them. so I guess what I am trying to ask is this. Is this paint good enough to paint a Viper? Or can I just use the base coat and another clear as long as its laquer?:confused:

if you start with lacquer then it is best to stay with lacquer from start to finish for best adhesion. any paint job would look good and last long depending on how well you prep. the car along with a good primer. if the HOK clear you wish to use is lacquer then it will work just fine. the Duplicolor Paint Shop clear does do a great job and has a nice shine to it also. A Viper huh....lets see some pics:D

eclipse, You can use a 2 part(hardened) clear over top of the Paint Shop. You don't have to use a clear Lacquer just because the Paint Shop system is Lacquer. Do keep in mind that Lacquer is not as durable as a conventional base/clear hardened system as HOK or PPG use. The properties are completely different. I would do some research on each type of paint systems and base your decision on your results. You might want to contact your local Sherwin Williams Automotive Paint store as well. They can give some insight.

Urethane clear over laquer, been doing it for years. Kinda gave up on it when laquer became harder to buy. It'l be gone soon.
