Hello all, I am a new member here....I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia....the vehicle rust capitol of the world .
As most of you know, Ford trucks are so prone to rusting, you can stand back and HEAR the rust eating away at the body lol.
I looked into painting the beast a couple times, but the cost of most base clear systems are through the roof, and from what I hear are hard to work with. But while watching the powerblock, I seen Paint Shop used on a couple projects and it turned out REALLY well.
So, I bought a gallon of Deep Blue and two quarts of Championship White.
I put a lot of money into this thing, doing a Dana 60 swap, new front fenders, about a dozen gauges in the cab, Uniden CB with a K40 and some other odds and ends that a trucker needs. I am buying a southern box and when I get my hands on it, she's going in the shop looking like hell, and comin back Cinderella.
The deep blue has a lot of metalic in it now, which is close to the metalic content in my old paint job.
How dark is the deep blue? The truck will be sprayed in a high build grey primer first, sanded until I get most of the marks out of it, then color coated (white body lines,, then taped off and then the blue) and then cleared about a week later...letting the paint harden completely.
I was told that this paint wont last, but the guys that told me this beat their trucks through the trees and mud...I can see why.
My truck lives an easy life, travelling to and from work. It will be cleaned, washed and waxed once a week like my car....AND UNDERCOATED TO DEATH, so I think it will be JUST fine.
I will take a PILE of pics and videos for those that have their doubts, but this is going to take a while....its a work in progress!
