Hiyas,
I got a motorcycle whose fairings I'm getting ready to paint and I'm looking for something a little different. My gear's colors are primary black & white (jacket & gloves) with black, white and silver accents in the helmet. Trying to keep from buying new gear
I got the primer and the brilliant silver base coat but was wondering a couple things:
Is the brilliant silver a metallic or should I plan on adding a light coat of metallic clear?
What effect would I get if I went with an extremely light coat of the candy apple green?
What I'm hoping to achieve is a non-flat silver with a tint of another color. I wish there was a candy blue but that's not an option it appears. So I was thinking with a really light coat of the candy apple green, I'd achieve a mostly silver with light green tint. Prolly looking silver at night.
Would this pull it off? Any suggestions?

The silver is not a metallic. Here is my jet boat sprayed with the silver with candy apple red over it. It all depends how heavy you spray the color. I tried a light shot. But went back a little thicker on the next coat.http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c31/mikie46/0923091217.jpg

Our Candy System has a specific base coat called: CANDY BASE COAT SILVER. It is much more metallic than our Brilliant Silver. This candy base coat must be used with our candy system to achieve the correct candy effect.
Each coat is meant to be sprayed very light. You will find out for yourself how dark you want to go because as you lay down each coat the color gets darker.

Well so far, the metalllic silver is more than metallic enough.

I haven't wetsanded or clearcoated yet. I'm trying to make a stencil of a dragon to paint down the lower fairings. Will use a regular rattlecan for that (possibly using Illuminite or Nite Lites if I can find it).
A suggestion:
Add the Mirage system to the Paint Shop System. The silver / green effect is almost exactly what I'm looking for

Murrays/O'Reillys carries it. If they don't you can order it. Also try NAPA.

Revisiting this for a sec. Any ETA on a color shift PS?
I'm gonna redo the whole bike here shortly and I'm trying to go with something not done to death. Black, candy green ect have been done to death. But a nice color shift would be nice :)

Unfortunately, we don't have an ETA on a color shift version of Paint Shop. We have 3 new colors for 2010 and they are Sublime Green Pearl, Dark Emerald Green Metallic and Midnight Blue.
You might like the Dark Emerald Green... It has a bit of a shift to it from black to green flake.

Oook! When can we see those hit the stores? I can have some fun with all three!

The 3 new Paint Shop colors will start rolling out early March at most major auto parts stores.
