Yeah I've posted 4 or 5 times already... I'm getting excited... this fall I will be nearing the end of my 79 CJ5 project, my first!

So when I paint my CJ Navy Blue (yeah I posted about that already)... what equipment is recommended by the Dupli-Color Paint System?

i recommend 2 spray guns. one used for primer and one used for paint. plenty of sandpaper. i started with 320 grit and worked my way up to 2000 grit for sanding clear coat. tape for taping off areas not to be painted. if you are good with a buffer then you will need one of those too for the final touch.

a helpful hint: when sanding body filler, primer, paint and even clear coats: use a block of wood or something else hard and straight w/ the sandpaper. this will ensure a astraight body with now high-low spots. there is alot of sanding involved.

Thanks Chriss... I'm taking notes from this thread, the bookmarked webpages I have and the two or three books. What's sad is one ride the Ocala National Forest and all of the work will be for naught. LOLOLOL! For that reason alone I'll probably not use clear coat.

I really appreciate the advice... about the spray guns... what about compressed air... I guess read the manufacturers specifications?

yes, an air compreeor is a must! be sure to get one that is big enough to keep up with the amount of use. i have a big 300 gal compressor, although you do not need one that big.

i take it most do this at home in a garage. what do you guys do to make a "paint booth" so as to protect the paint from stuff in the air and to keep the paint off of everything else?
