Thought I might get more responces here Fishing reel project

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Am restoring 2 old reels, they are I believe made out of aluminum but not sure. They have been stripped to bare metal and are ready to be primed, painted and clearcoated. I would like to paint them with Metal Speck Red however I do need an end finish that is hard and durable. At worse the reels will be subjected to salt water and spray, sand particles ect from being used in a beach environment. Will the Acrylic Lacquer paint and clearcoat hold up or should I just go the way of the standard none metalic dull enamel that will hold up Yet won't be the same as that bad arse Metal Speck Red color that I want to use?

Using the Metal Specks with our Clear Lacquer over that will work out just fine. I would just suggest applying several coats of clear so if you need to repolish you have that barrier.
